Here the idea of freedom is presented as someone chained to the back of a motor boat and being dragged full speed ahead. The rider is not water-skiing, and cannot get loose. The only choice the person has is to dip her head under the water and drown or to try to keep her head above the water in able to be able to breathe. The person driving the boat has full control over the speed and direction of the water-ride...

The text in Arabic is a famous saying that I have modified to loosely state: actions are dictated, only intentions are free

Location of Painting: I wonder where this one went....

Freedom
This is one of my favourite paintings. It portrays the mind as a parched, almost starched peace of goatskin that has been flattened and hung out in the sun to dry. It is so dry that it is cracking and there is no trace of the fact that this dry peace of flat material used to be a living, throbbing organ inside a person“s skull, organizing and managing the thoughts and actions of a human being. It has become more like a souvenir that can be purchased at a shop for tourists...

Location of Painting: I greatly fear I have lost this painting. I do not recall giving it to anyone neither depositing it with anyone neither have I seen it for years. I hope someone has salvaged it. If so, please let me know!

In this Painting I portray my father and his second wife (a German lady) to the right and myself sitting in the lap of an imaginary person who is the exact opposite of my father physically, emotionally and mentally.

This Painting is a satire of the idea of people being complementary, as you can detect from the notion that when the weight of the couple to the right is added it is equal to the weight of the couple on the left...

This is a study of many topics, but mainly, the difficulty of finding a compatible mate, and as the question underneath the painting states: can an outsider judge whether a couple is compatible or not?

Location of Painting: I think I gave this to someone, but am not sure. If someone has the original, I would be obliged to get a note telling me that.

Compatibility
This Painting has had many names. The articles pasted around it are reports of public appearances, activities and statements I had made, up till the time of the exhibition.

In the Exhibition, the Painting was called "Ten Years of This and That in Finland". Before pasting the articles on the frame, I had called it "Under the Spotlights". After removing the articles and framing it differently, I gave it its present name.

It studies the thin line between being a private and a public person. The waving hand is hesitating between waving to the viewer and telling the viewer to keep a distance.

Location of painting: given to a very talented NLP therapist in Armenia called Anna Stepanian. It hangs on her living room wall in the Capital Yerevan.
